About Us

It all started with an interest in meeting other Makers, over a cup of tea and slice of cake! The Derbyshire Makers (TDM) was co founded in 2019 with the aim of bringing Derbyshire Makers and Artists together to support each other, meet other like minded creatives, and develop new business opportunities and collaborations.

Quickly, TDM turned into a thriving community of Artists and Makers and became synonymous with quality and the friendliness of our events.

In November 2022 Sharon O’Connell (a successful Textile artist and member of TDM) volunteered to take over the running of The Derbyshire Makers and is now guiding it in the next exciting phase of becoming a blossoming Art Collective. In 2023 TDM not only had numerous markets and exhibitions, but also successfully opened two pop-up shops at Peak Village (part of The Devonshire Group) and is looking forward to exciting plans in 2024!

Whether you’re an artist/maker looking to join our community or a customer wanting to buy a memorable piece of art, we look forward to welcoming you to our friendly, inspiring and supportive network, or meeting you at one of our local events or workshops.

For Makers

We want to build a friendly, inspiring and inclusive collective that offers opportunities for everyone to give and gain support, collaborate with other makers and build valuable friendships along the way within our wonderful community of makers across the county.

We also want to create a collective network that offers opportunities for Derbyshire Makers to promote what they do to others so together we can inspire others with our products and through our workshops.

We understand the challenges of taking that leap of faith to launch and run a creative business and how being self-employed can sometimes feel lonely and isolating when you work alone.

We share a passion for creativity that converts a talent, a hobby or an idea into a business and provide a friendly, welcoming space for support, friendship and collaboration.

Our community has been set up for ALL Derbyshire Makers to come together to share experiences of running a business, learn from each other and grow their business through giving support, developing collaborations and building relationships.
