About Us

It all started with an interest in meeting other Makers, over a cup of tea and slice of cake! The Derbyshire Makers (TDM) was co founded in 2019 with the aim of bringing Derbyshire Makers and Artists together to support each other, meet other like minded creatives, and develop new business opportunities and collaborations.

Quickly, TDM turned into a thriving community of Artists and Makers and became synonymous with quality and the friendliness of our events.

In November 2022 Sharon O’Connell (a successful Textile artist and member of TDM) volunteered to take over the running of The Derbyshire Makers and is now guiding it in the next exciting phase.

In May 2024 TDM opened their first shop at Peak Village Shopping Centre, Rowsley (part of The Devonshire Group) and is looking forward to more exciting plans and events in 2024!

We have built a friendly, inspiring and inclusive Derbyshire collective that offers opportunities for everyone to give and gain support, collaborate with other makers and build valuable friendships along the way.

We also want to create opportunities for Derbyshire Makers to promote what they do and inspire with both our products and through our workshops.

We understand the challenges of taking that leap of faith to launch and run a creative business and how being self-employed can sometimes feel lonely and isolating when you work alone.

We share a passion for creativity that converts a talent, a hobby or an idea into a business and provide a friendly, welcoming space for advice, support, friendship and collaboration.
