All of our Makers and Artists are based in Derbyshire and their work is original and largely handmade.
We have jewellers, woodworkers, artists, textile artists, photographers, potters, glass artists, gin distillers…… and the list goes on.
Andrea Hytch
Andrea Hytch uses oil and cold wax medium to create semi-abstract paintings, that pay homage to the natural beauty of Derbyshire's rural landscape. Using a process of slowly building up layers of oil paint mixed with cold wax medium, she achieves heavily textured compositions that are rich in colour and surface detail.
Thunderbug Designs (aka Toni Hibbert) Textile Exhibition: Desire Paths
Toni mostly uses her practical skills to create beautiful and useful everyday textiles. Here, however, she offers a meditation on the mental and physical wanderings we all share as humans.
This series of works was born from the confluence of several ideas and processes, some consciously chosen, some less so. The seed of this collection was the phenomenon of desire paths; the idea that in any built or rural environment, you can lay and designate all the pathways you want, but humans (and other creatures) will inevitably mark out their own paths, those that serve them best in the tasks they need to accomplish, and that allow them to access the physical and psychological spaces they want or need to be. In the same way that water will find its own way through a landscape by a combination of the path of least resistance, and slowly carving away the obstacles in its path, so do we. Another aspect was a desire to explore the ways in which different yarns interact with different lighting environments. Using both manmade and natural yarns and fibres, I hoped to create a series of pieces that would produce subtly different effects in natural and manmade lighting, low and high, day and night, thus giving each piece a life beyond first impressions. This aspect of the work is a gesture towards the fact that the people collectively making the desire paths, one footstep at a time, contain more than the first impression they present to the world, and those things are not always apparent in every circumstance.

Browse stalls indoors and outdoors for art, ceramics, crafts, jewellery and a sprinkling of Derbyshire food producers too.
Live music will be playing too, so bring the family and enjoy the entertainment.

Book Launch
Published by Austin Macaulay, The Flying Heifer is a debut novel for Derbyshire author Barbara Glasson with signed copies available at The Derbyshire Makers Shop at the Peak Village, Rowsley on 15th and 16th November.
Set in the imaginary hamlet of Briardale, The Flying Heifer offers a light-hearted riff on Derbyshire life. You will soon get to love George, Tommy and Nigel as they skirmish with ridiculous schemes to bring their village alive again under the watchful eye of Aunty Madge.
The Flying Heifer is a great Christmas gift for anyone who enjoys a gentle, laugh-out-loud read.
Squiggly Sue Exhibition
Sue is a watercolour artist. She has experimented with other mediums in the past such as acrylics and oils but always come back to watercolours. She just loves the way they work - their transparency and also their unpredictability. Sue works quite spontaneously and loosely leaving the paint to its own thing.
Autumn Art and Craft Fair

Irene Brierton Exhibition
Irene’s fascination with nature and all manner of creatures from earliest childhood grew alongside a natural interest and talent for drawing.This almost inevitably led to her becoming a wildlife artist, the focus of her work a foregone conclusion. The Brown Hare, following some brilliant encounters has become a particular favourite.
David Entwisle Exhibtion
David is a woodturner and wood worker. His exhibition is an exploration of how the coloured stains, acrylics and metallic finishes he uses enhance the pieces he has turned on his lathe.
Frances Daunt Exhibition
Frances Daunt is an award winning Derbyshire artist who depicts wildlife using a variety of different media. She is particularly well known for her map art.
Joelle Joanne Willow Exhibition
Joelle is a talented willow weaving artist from Derbyshire and will be showing a range of decorative pieces and homeware.
Amanda Hughes Exhibition
Amanda paints vibrant abstract art, exploring themes of 'Connection' with nature and with each other. Painting gives her so such joy and her intention is to communicate these feelings and energies to her audience through colourful marks and energetic, intertwining lines.
Sue Davey Exhibition
Sue Davey creates unique pictures using her machine needle, like a pen, and tattoo thread onto a ‘watercolour pencilled’ fabric background, finishing with hand embroidery and beads.
Derbyshire Open Arts
Join twelve of The Derbyshire Makers at Peak Village for Derbyshire Open Arts 2025.
We will have a mix of artists, ceramicists, silversmiths, glassmakers, woodworkers and textile artists - all exhibiting their stunning work and allowing you the chance to see and chat to the artists and maybe treat yourself to a piece of art to treasure for years to come.

Kimberley MacDonald Exhibition
Kimberley is an artist and ceramicist living in Ashbourne, Derbyshire . Her paintings are usually worked in acrylic and feature brightly coloured modern folk florals. The ceramics are thrown on the potters wheel and are then decorated with the same colourful floral designs'

Janet Cutts Exhibition
Janet is a watercolour artist from Elmton in North Derbyshire. She took up painting seriously during Covid. Now in her late seventies she enjoys visiting places and painting them when she gets back to her tiny studio in the garden.

Jude Shore and Sharon O’Connell, both leading textile artists with The Derbyshire Makers, have taken over The Little Gallery for an installation titled “Beauty in Small Things”.
