TDM’S 2026 Summer Open Exhibition

“Every Picture Tells a Story”

The Derbyshire Makers invites submissions for its 2026 Summer Open Exhibition.

All successful submissions will be exhibited at Peak Village from 8th - 23rd August 2026.

The Derbyshire Makers welcomes all artists to this exhibition - professional, amateur, and students.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • The exhibition is open to artists living and working in Derbyshire only

  • All pieces must be accompanied by a piece of writing (of no more than 300 words) explaining the “story” of your piece (to be displayed alongside the picture or item) - this can be in any form e.g. poetry, fiction, descriptive etc

  • Prizes will be awarded - more details to follow

  • The Exhibition is open to all Derbyshire artists of 16 and over

  • A maximum of 3 works may be submitted per applicant

  • The exhibition will be primarily 2D art, however we will have space for a small curated 3D section too.

  • All works must be for sale and priced accordingly (see information below)

  • The work must be executed by the artist and be their property to sell

  • All entries must be made online

  • There will not be a physical hand-in of work for the selection process; you will only need to deliver your work to Peak Village if selected and notified (full instructions for dropping off your artwork will be emailed to you)

Size Limits:

2D work:

  • must be within the maximum size limit of 100cm x 100cm

  • must have “D” rings and strong cord attached

3D work:

  • must be within a 50m x 50cm footprint

Entry Fees:

Members of TDM: £5 per entry (up to three artworks)

Non- Members: £28 per entry (up to three artworks)

There will be a hanging fee of £5 for each work accepted (payable on drop off)

Any work sold will go through a central till and a commission of 20% will be charged

TDM Members: Please log into your account on the website and use the booking form on the “Current Events” page

Please note: you will need a photo of all artworks being submitted and the entry payment will be taken at the end of the booking form.

Closing date for all entries is: FRIDAY 3rd JULY

Successful Entrants

If you are successful in your entry, please note:

  • If you have been selected, you will be contacted by email by Friday 10 July and full delivery instructions will be given then

  • All selected works must be delivered to the gallery on Monday & Tuesday August 3 & 4   (10am-4pm) (or by separate arrangement agreed with TDM).

  • All works must be clearly labelled on the back of your work with: your name, title of the piece, medium and price.

  • The “story” for each must be printed on A4 paper with the name of the artwork and the artist’s name clearly showing

  • All work is submitted at the artists’ own risk. The exhibition will be stewarded at all times and there is security on site at Peak Village.

  • Successful applicants will be asked to fill in a “Stewarding Rota” when delivering their artwork. This is not compulsory, however any Stewards will be able to bring additional prints, cards etc to sell (through the central till point) whilst they are there. There will be up to four Stewards each day.

  • The hanging fees (of £5 per item accepted) will be payable on drop off, by card or cash.

Further Information

  • Please ensure your work is ready for hanging, with “D rings” and strong cord

  • Each item should be fully labeled on the back of your work with: your name, title of the piece, medium and price.

  •  We will provide all hanging equipment.

  • If you are stewarding a table will also be provided, however any display equipment, tablecloths etc should be brought by each artist

  • All sales will go through the central till and the amount (minus a 20% service charge) will be paid to you within 28 days of the end of the exhibition. Please note: For the duration of the exhibition any pictures or art shown, should not be available for purchase elsewhere (e.g. website). If the art is sold during this time and not put through TDM’s till, an invoice for 20% of the price of the piece will be sent to you.

  • Please note: TDM reserve the right to ask for inappropriate or offensive work to be removed

  • Marketing: TDM will of course be marketing and promoting the exhibition, but please do remember to promote it yourself too - your followers will be interested and excited to see your work. Peak Village will also be marketing our events and this often results in the exhibition being posted on Chatsworth's website (although this is outside our control)
