Do you concentrate on one medium, or do you work in several

My paintings are all in watercolour which I find a fascinating medium to work in as it likes to “do its own thing”. Always using the best quality paints and paper, I have no desire to use any other medium.

 Tell me about your workspace.

I work in my tiny studio which is in a very small summerhouse in my garden. This means that I spend a fair amount of my time reorganising and tidying as I use it as a gallery as well. I would love it to be little bit larger space.

 What inspires you?

I am usually inspired by places I have visited or experiences that I have had. Spending a lot of time sailing in the past I like coastal villages and the good old English countryside. I am definitely not a townie.

Do you have a favourite piece in the little gallery exhibition?

My favourite piece of art is usually one I have just completed successfully.

How did you start doing what you do?

During Covid lock down I rediscovered a love for painting that had been dormant for 20 years and I took the opportunity to study hard with an online tutor who lives and paints in Italy. The best use of that time ever!!

Do you work on your creative business full time, or do you have another job as well?

Painting isn’t my only hobby as I am a keen gardener and love to open my garden for one weekend each year with the RHS Open Garden scheme. Our visitors also have the opportunity to browse in my little gallery/studio at the same time. As I am well into retirement this keeps me busy in mind and body. Myself and husband, with our faithful dog Poppy, also enjoy trips out in our touring caravan visiting some of the lovely places

 What’s next for you?

I belong to an art group at the Leabrooks Art Complex where I have exhibited and they have been very supportive. I also recently exhibited world wide on a virtual site and at the Frontier Gallery in Sheffield.
